Don't Call it a Comeback
Years ago, I had a blog on this site. It was called My Mind Races in Flip Flops.
It had a ridiculous amount of views. So many, that it made me uncomfortable. I know people that love to share their personal life with others, under the assumption that anyone cares. I have no interest in sharing anything personal. Just a few random thoughts that may pop into my head. OK, and the occasional music blog.
This morning, I woke up to total silence. I went downstairs, heated some water, put some coffee beans in a grinder and made 4 cups of coffee. I then, put the needle on Dexter Gordon's Sophisticated Giant and started appreciating life. I fear 2 things. Snakes and my peaceful way life getting screwed up. Lately, I've been surrounded by several people with unimaginable amounts of turmoil in their lives. I try to be a good (maybe just decent) listener, but I can't escape the reality that my initial thoughts toggle between how did you get into this and that's on you. I don't see how people live like that. Right now, my biggest concern is that I can't find my favorite pen. I'm comforted by the fact that it's probably in a jacket pocket.
BTW, Woody Shaw absolutely kills it on Sophisticated Giant. If you haven't heard it, you need to.
Things are starting to get really busy with the “day job”. After over a year, spent focusing on the radio station, the new Clear Lake Today is finally launched. That's the real reason behind starting the blog again. The last one had over 250K views and I could use the traffic. Don't get me wrong, I didn't want to take a year away from it. I missed it. I'm glad to get it back. Having to take a year away from it, forced me to rethink, realign and reidentify. At the end of the day, things turned out for the best. I kinda knew they would.
Until next time, Clear Lake...
