The Association of Business and Professional Women discusses heart disease prevention

HOUSTON -- On February 6th, the Association of Business and Professional Women (ABPW) had the pleasure to have Katy Pryor, Director of the Galveston branch of the American Heart Association, as guest speaker in order to provide the sixty plus members of the group with up-to-date health information, critical for the prevention of heart disease.

“Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. Every minute in the United States, someone’s wife, mother, daughter or sister dies from heart disease”, said Mrs. Pryor during her presentation. “Important and effective prevention measures include the adoption of a more active lifestyle and the regular monitoring of cholesterol level and blood pressure.”

Mrs. Pryor also reminded ABPW members about the 2014 Bay Area Go Red for Women Luncheon, on February 28, 11:00 AM – 2:00PM, at the South Shore Harbour Resort in League City. Funds raised will benefit the Galveston and Clear Lake community as they will finance heart disease research, education and awareness for the nation’s number one health threat, killing more women than all forms of cancer combined. For more information call 713-610-5063.

ABPW members meet the first Thursday of every month at the Courtyard by Marriott Houston NASA/Clear Lake, at 7:00 AM.
