HOUSTON --Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital reached a significant milestone in 2014 - the hospital’s clinical team performed more than 10,000 surgical cases last year, all while maintaining excellent patient outcomes.

“At Memorial Hermann Southeast, our primary focus is providing the safest and highest quality care to our patients,” said Chief Executive Officer Erin S. Asprec. “As part of that focus and commitment, our dedicated operating room staff has also achieved many firsts for our hospital and community.

Memorial Hermann Southeast was one of the first Houston community hospitals to offer subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, a new, less invasive heart defibrillator; the first FDA-approved drug-eluting stent in the treatment of patients with peripheral artery disease; and transradial cardiac catheterization, which allows access to a patient's heart through the wrist instead of the groin.

With 12 state-of-the-art operating rooms, including a hybrid operating suite equipped with advanced, medical imaging devices, and a specialized cystoscopy room, Memorial Hermann Southeast performs a wide variety of specialty and minimally invasive surgeries including gynecology, orthopedic, spine, gastroenterology, bariatrics, colorectal, thoracic, heart and vascular, plastic surgery, otolaryngology, urology, and neurosurgery. ?Available surgical techniques at the hospital include robotic and endoscopic, minimally invasive approaches that may help reduce post-operative pain, speed recovery and shorten hospital stays.

Memorial Hermann Southeast was ranked as one of the Top 10 Hospitals for Orthopedic Care in 2014 by CareChex, accredited by The Joint Commission with Gold Seal of Approval, and distinguished as a Center of Excellence® since 2010 by American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
